Student Awards

Standard of Excellence Awards:  A certificate is presented to all students with an overall core subject weighted average of 80.0 - 100%.

Highest Average Award:  A certificate is presented to one student at each grade level with the highest overall academic average.

Top Achiever Awards:  A certificate is presented to students at all grade levels for outstanding work in a complementary course.

Français En Tête Awards:  A plaque and gift certificate is presented in recognition of an outstanding immersion student at each grade level who has demonstrated commitment and enthusiasm towards the French language and culture. The students selected must be fluent in French and demonstrate a positive attitude towards French curricular and extracurricular activities.

Kenilworth Music Parents’ Association Scholarship:  A certificate and gift certificate is awarded to one student at each grade level who demonstrates dedication, commitment, and excellence in the band program.

Ann Sandomir Memorial Art Award:  This award is a gift certificate given to a student to use towards the cost of attending a summer fine arts program.

Gordon Muir Citizenship Award:  A plaque is presented to a grade 7 student who is actively involved in promoting a healthy and positive school atmosphere, and who displays a positive attitude toward peers and staff.  This award recognizes the memory of Mr. Gordon Muir who contributed to Kenilworth school through his work as an Assistant Principal and his involvement with School Council.

Thomas M. And Sybil F.D. Blacklock Merit Award:  A plaque and a monetary award is presented to the one grade 9 student that is chosen for best exemplifying all-round qualities in the areas of academics, leadership and extra-curricular activities.  Mr. Blacklock, through his work as a principal with Edmonton Public Schools, was known for establishing standards of excellence in student performance and character, for fairness in the treatment of pupils, and for integrity in staff relationships.

Grade Eight Citizenship Award:  A plaque is presented to a grade 8 student who exemplifies honesty, energy and purpose in his/her endeavours.  This student is recognized for being actively involved in promoting a healthy and positive school atmosphere.  

The Pamela Hall Language Arts Award:  A plaque is presented to a grade 9 student for outstanding achievement in language arts with a particular emphasis on writing.

E. P. Wynychuk Athletic Award:  A plaque is presented for outstanding achievement and leadership in athletics to the top female and male athletes of the year.

Esmail and Yasmin Ramji Award:  A certificate and plaque is presented to the student(s) for the highest year-end mark in grade 9 Mathematics.

R. K. Gupta Memorial AwardA plaque is presented to the student(s) for the highest level of achievement in grade 9 Science in memory of Mr. Gupta’s father.

T.J. Reid Citizenship Award:  A plaque is presented to a grade 9 student who has continually demonstrated the characteristics of a good citizen.  This student is recognized for being actively involved in promoting a healthy and positive school atmosphere and displaying a positive attitude towards all school staff, facilities, curricular, and extracurricular activities.

Golden Mallett Award:  Presented annually in honour of Mr. Jim Mallett, who taught Social Studies at Kenilworth for more than 30 years, to the student who has achieved the highest academic standing in grade 9 Social Studies.
