French Immersion Program

The French Immersion Program is offered in grades seven, eight and nine. Students enrolled in the program receive instruction in French for Math, Social Studies, Science and French Language Arts. Students also receive three option choices (one full year, two semestered).

Beliefs:

• In order to become fluent in French students need to communicate in French with both teachers and classmates.

• Language learning happens within a cultural context and involves exposure to native speakers and cultural activities.

• Students should be provided with interesting, enjoyable opportunities to engage in authentic communication with each other in French.

• Students develop confidence in French by using the language inside and outside the classroom, as well as in the community.
